Overview

This position reports directly to the Risk Manager and supports management and employees throughout the entire SDI organization. While the daily work is financial in nature, professional external communication is an integral component of this position.

Responsibilities

Risk Transfer

§  Assists financial risk analysis and subsequent risk transfer function which involves analyzing potential risks and developing solutions to mitigate risks

§  Assists with the preparation of submission data, conducts related analysis and research for multiple lines, including but not limited to, property, casualty and workers compensation insurance programs

§  Maintains and coordinates insurance policy administration and insurance invoicing that includes reviewing insurance costs allocations to SDI operations along with external insurance audits performed by various insurance carriers  

§  Prepares presentations based on the type of coverage up for renewal that will best demonstrate why the company is a low risk utilizing videos, graphics, charts etc.

§  Maintains relationship with SDI operations to provide assistance with claims, determines new exposures, interprets insurance contracts, and determines best solution to provide risk transfer

§  Reviews and monitors company property loss control program, facilitates conference calls between our locations and loss control engineers on potential solutions for recommendations provided by loss control engineers

 

Treasury Finance

§  Partners with commodities financial risk management team and investment team for analysis of new transaction execution prior to implementation

§  Monitoring of transaction and counterparty authorization limits within existing policies

 

Overall Responsibilities

§  Serve as backup on various treasury functions

§  Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • MBA – Concentration in Finance or Accounting
  • 3-8 years of financial, accounting or risk transfer (insurance) experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Limited travel, facility tours and evening meetings as required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding time management skills, ability to multi-task and rapidly respond to frequent small requests
  • High level of proficiency with spreadsheet software and comfort with using multiple third-party software (such as a Risk Management Information System)
  • Public accounting firm, insurance carrier or broker experience in background is a plus
