This position is highly interactive with plant, accounting and management staff in a new SDI Joint Venture. It offers a unique opportunity to do monthly accounting activities while also using analytical skills, research, and problem solving to be creative, work on system and accounting projects, and assist with the development and improvement of company inventory software and procedures.

• Involvement in the Accounts Payable process, included process improvement, system management and controls
• Fixed asset management and tracking through a variety of systems
• Ability to help prepare financial statements and evaluate results
• Verify accuracy and completeness of daily accounting activities at the plant including, but not limited to, inventory, shipping, invoicing, purchasing and accounts payable
• Assist controller and division controller with internal control compliance and identifying opportunities to improve processes and internal controls
• Assist controller with month end accounting duties including, but not limited to, ensuring proper cut-off for invoicing, documenting revenue recognition, reconciling accounts payable, inventory and material cost of goods sold, journal entries, financial reporting and forecasting
• Interact with various departments and SDI locations to assist in developing improvements to current inventory system and processes and helping implement those improvements at other locations within the company.

Required

• 4-year Accounting or Finance degree with at least two years of manufacturing accounting experience
• CPA or plan to be eligible to sit for the exam
• Experience with month end closings and reconciling general ledger accounts
• Problem-solving and Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to trace transactions through production and accounting systems and identify errors

Preferred

• Active CPA designation or future CPA eligible
• Experience developing reports to improve controls or automate processes
• Experience in a variety of accounting functions (AP, month-end, controls and fixed assets)
• Software implementation experience
