The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia is expanding and adding positions across the Division.  There is an immediate opening for a Crane Crew Service & Maintenance Lead.  This position will be a direct report to the Engineering Manager.  Position will be responsible for coordinating required inspections of all overhead, mobile, and jib cranes along with underhook devices across.  Position will be responsible for timely inspections and proper filing of all paperwork for inspections.  Lead will also serve as technical expert for crane and maintenance.  Will work with departmental maintenance to help troubleshoot issues and affect timely repairs during breakdowns in conjunction with internal or 3rd party maintenance.  Position will work with department maintenance leads to make sure regular PM’s are maintained.  Lead will also monitor and work with storeroom personnel to make sure proper spare parts are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections are conducted and all paperwork filed and maintained.
  • Help ensure that all pre-work safety checklists and JSA’s are accurate and being followed for work on cranes.
  • Work with departmental maintenance to ensure regular PM’s are done.
  • Work with Storeroom/Warehouse personnel to ensure proper inventory and critical spares are maintained.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects for increased uptime and lean principles to meet KPI targets
  • Provide frontline technical resources for maintenance and breakdown issues when they happen, 24/7.
  • Development of a job kitting strategy and process through collaboration with storeroom personnel in order to support improved efficiency in execution of planned work within the department
  • Work with other department engineers and Managers to develop and maintain ongoing training programs to improve skills and knowledge for millwrights
  • Provide system/component troubleshooting and root cause analysis investigation as necessary
  • Work with Storeroom & Departmental Maintenance to coordinate repair rebuild of parts such as gearboxes, magnets, and brakes.
  • Oversee and coordinate installation and startup of any new cranes or major upgrades to cranes.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree and/or equivalent trade school/field technical experience in heavy industrial maintenance, preferably crane maintenance
  • Proficient with computers and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop a cooperate work relationship with employees and vendors both internally and externally
  • Previous experience with CMM systems, setup and use
  • Strong safety mindset and drive to improve and maintain safe work conditions
  • Proven experience in heavy industrial mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Must be able to move around equipment in a complex industrial environment
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move objects up to and exceeding 40lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 100ft.
  • Ability to climb long distances up caged access ladders
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI, standards for equipment and tasks in an industrial environment.
  • Proven track record of multi-tasking.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts, provide written work orders and JSA’s for assigned tasks, and schedule multiple concurrent jobs.
