The Metallurgist/Process Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of activities throughout the cold mill facility.  This position is part of a team tasked with maintaining and improving safety, quality, and productivity at the Butler cold mill processes, including pickling, cold rolling, and/or galvanizing.

• Promote and maintain safe work environment
• Identify and troubleshoot various issues in the production process with the operations team
• Provide technical assistance to operations for product and process improvement
• Promote and improve quality standards in the production operations
• Provide technical support to customers and the sales team
• Investigate claims, including the development and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
• Assist with other activities as required, such as data analysis, product development, process improvement, ISO/IATF compliance, etc.
• Work collaboratively with product metallurgists, supervisors, operators, and other engineers

• B.S. degree in metallurgy, material science, or other related engineering field
• Travel requirements – some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences/meetings, etc.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional computer skills, including data analytics
• Experience in steel industry and/or other heavy manufacturing (preferred)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
