This dynamic position is designed to cultivate a diverse finance experience, whereby the successful candidate will be exposed to a wide-range of experiences within Steel Dynamics; including internal and external financial reporting, analytics, controllership and accounting, project management, and process improvement. Will collaborate with the Management Team and other SDI employees, both within and outside the Division to fulfill responsibilities with these and other areas.


  • Participate in compiling of divisional financial statements.
  • Participate and analyze accounts payable data and process.
  • Review and reconcile of general ledger accounts.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and audit of finished goods, semi-finished and scrap inventories.
  • Validate division-wide compliance with implemented policies and procedures and develop/enhance accounting policies and procedures.
  • Continuously challenge/innovate the established close process and day-to-day operations.
  • Fixed Asset Tracking
  • Participate in various SDI Corporate-wide projects, as needed.


  • Certified Public Accountant in active status (or working towards certification), with at least a four-year accounting degree and 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Relevant core-competencies required: time management, highly organized, project management and multi-tasking, applying effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
  • Dedication to minor details and ensuring accuracy of all work products.
  • Exceptional and proven verbal and written communication skills, with all levels of management.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint).
