We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Can Coil Coating/Paint Line Process Engineer to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the excellence and efficiency of our coil coating/paint line process. Responsibilities

  • Lead Can Coil Coating Line commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, customer qualifications and process development. Support equipment erection activities.
  • Manage and optimize the various stages of coil-to-coil finishing within coil coating/paint line, including substrate cleaning, chemical treatment, primer, paint or lacquer application, final coating, curing, inspection, and packaging.
  • Utilize your extensive knowledge of coil coating processes, metal substrates, and the application of coil coating products to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  • Lead and oversee technical aspects of the coil-to-coil finishing and coating line, ensuring consistent coating performance and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve coating processes, addressing challenges and implementing best practices.
  • Use your strong communication skills to present technical findings and recommendations, both internally and to customers.
  • Provide technical leadership in coating design, tooling, and pre-coat substrate cleaning application methodologies.
  • Contribute to process design, development, and project planning to drive continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct fault isolation, and solve problems, utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) where applicable.
  • Maintain documentation, including drawings, procedures, process routers, and Bills of Materials with full configuration control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in disciplines such as, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or Metallurgical. Or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2 or more years previous experience in a coil-to-coil finishing, painting or coating steel or aluminum sheet.
  • Previous experience working with metal coatings in a continuous coil line. Can End and tab Stock coating lines experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team and strong organizational skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

Desired

 

  • Coil coating process start-up and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem-solving.
  • Aluminum can end stock sheet finishing, coating or painting.
