Overview

Responsible for monitoring and valuing the inventories of finished goods, WIP, and raw material.  Also responsible for calculating cost-of-goods sold as it relates to sales and maintaining an accurate inventory on a perpetual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Track inventory
  • Identify/monitor the location of assets on the balance sheet
  • Monthly inventory accounting
  • Report daily inventory levels
  • Oversee quarterly physical inventory and reconciliation of count
  • Month-end close duties
  • Bi-weekly spare parts, purchase order, and paint audits
  • Variance analysis of coils using Daily Production Report
  • Monitor freight account throughout the month to ensure rates are accurate
  • Weekly scrap analysis
  • Examine packaging GL accounts to confirm goods received are coded accurately on a weekly basis
  • Track steel purchase orders, including terms and conditions
  • Assess weekly sales to verify route sequence is correct
  • Complete special projects and analyses as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting preferred)
  • Two or more years of experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems, both mainframe and PC-based
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner

Preferred

  • CPA, MBA, or CMA
