• Design Steel Decking according to Steel Deck Institute standards
• Review and develop engineering tools specific to steel deck
• Roof/floor designs for projects including Retail Buildings, Schools, Warehouses, etc.
• Provide engineering direction to detailing, design, sales and production departments
• Interpret contract documents and communicate with Architects/Engineers of Record/Fabricators on product design requirements
• Design Joists, Joist Girders per Steel Joist Institute standards
• Become conversant in AISC, AISI, SJI, and SDI codes and specs

Required:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent for Civil P.E. qualification
• Minimum Civil E.I.T. certification with desire to become Civil P.E.
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

• Prior steel deck industry or structural steel design experience
• Prior steel joist industry experience
• Civil P.E. certification
