Overview

This dynamic accounting position is highly interactive with all levels of plant management, accounting staff, location IT department and SDI corporate accounting. The accounting supervisor is responsible for the consistent execution of divisional internal controls, SDI accounting policies, month end procedures and accurate routine accounting processes. This person also plays an integral role in establishing and maintaining analytical tools to assist management in monitoring and growing the business.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of discipline within the daily accounting activities
    • Timely review and approval of routine accounting transactions, reconciliations and results
    • Effective and uninterrupted inventory management and internal controls over finished goods, work in process, scrap and spare parts
    • Assisting and providing the local management team with timely and accurate financial data, metrics and communicating with other department managers
    • Ensure that effective internal controls are occurring, including periodic review of the internal control documentation
    • Mentor the CFRD accounting staff
    • Assure high level of department interaction, engagement, teamwork and spirit de corps
  • Communicate regularly with SDI Corporate Accounting team for collaboration, including implementation of new scrap management system
  • Participate on SDI Corporate initiatives when needed

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in active status, with at least a four-year accounting degree
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively work and influence cross-functionally across the organization and with multiple entities outside of the SDI organization
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge in Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member across multiple disciplines
  • Willingness to work additional hours as required
  • Ability to travel when needed, in support of other divisions or SDI Corporate

Preferred

  • Supervisory experience
  • Financial reporting and internal controls experience
