Steel of West Virginia, part of the Steel Dynamics Long Products Group, is seeking a qualified Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to support ongoing commercial growth. The RSM will be responsible for developing new business, managing existing accounts, and executing divisional sales strategies within an assigned territory.

 

This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of balancing high travel requirements with timely communication, quoting support, and project follow-through. The RSM will represent the company professionally and maintain strong alignment with divisional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities while managing and expanding existing customer relationships

  • Maintain a high frequency of travel, including consecutive overnights as required

  • Manage territory planning, customer communication, email responsiveness, quoting needs, and project follow-up

  • Exercise fiduciary responsibility regarding travel, entertainment, and expenses

  • Communicate market conditions, customer needs, challenges, and opportunities clearly and consistently

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support quoting, forecasting, technical inquiries, and commercial initiatives

  • Uphold company values and maintain professionalism in all internal and external interactions

  • Demonstrate strong business ethics, negotiation skills, confidence in asking for orders, and the ability to conduct both individual and group discussions effectively

  • Potential for international travel; must be able to obtain necessary travel documentation

  • Demonstrate pride in SDI’s products, culture and goals

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid organizational, analytical, and time-management capabilities

  • High level of initiative, self-motivation, and independence

  • Ability to travel 50% – consecutive over-nights may be required

  • International travel may be required. Must have the ability to acquire necessary travel documents

  • Proficiency in general computer skills, including Microsoft Excel

  • Prior sales experience in a commercial or customer-facing environment

  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities while maintaining responsiveness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the steel industry, metals distribution, OEM manufacturing, or industrial supply chains
  • Multiple years of outside sales or territory management experience
  • Experience with AS400, Microsoft D365, Salesforce, or other CRM/ERP systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
