Overview

The Supply Chain & Logistics Analyst is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and improving end-to-end supply chain operations across the mill. This role focuses on cost reduction, operational efficiency, and strategic logistics planning, including scrap flow, inbound/outbound materials, and transportation performance. The analyst will partner with internal departments and external vendors to drive data-driven decisions that enhance overall mill productivity and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the full supply chain lifecycle (procurement, transportation, inventory, and distribution) to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
  • Evaluate logistics and transportation spending to identify areas for cost reduction and improved service performance
  • Assess and optimize the movement of scrap throughout the mill to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective flow of materials 
  • Identify and recommend alternative equipment, processes, or technologies to improve mill operations
  • Map and document inbound and outbound material flows including raw materials, scrap, and finished goods to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports to track key supply chain metrics (cost, throughput, cycle time, vendor performance)
  • Research and recommend software or system solutions to enhance supply chain visibility, tracking, and management
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, procurement, and transportation teams to align logistics strategies with business goals
  • Analyze carrier performance, freight trends, and routing strategies to optimize transportation networks
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to logistics and supply chain costs
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in shipping documentation, contracts, and logistics processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and logistics functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (4-year degree) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify actionable insights
  • Experience with supply chain mapping, process improvement, and cost analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with ERP systems or supply chain software is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, industrial environment
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Experience in steel manufacturing, heavy industry, or scrap/recycling operations
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) or warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • 2 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, operations, or industrial/manufacturing environments preferred
